055 [Rain]

not a fan of this picture really, I guess if i would have taken my time I could have gotten a better rain shot, but I wasn’t enjoying being wet. Seattle will provide second chances, I guarantee.

Hayden and Justin caught this frog outside their house. I missed the focus a little bit, but I do love Hayden’s pink gardening gloves and I was holding Nate because it was rainy and he was shoeless. I like this picture a lot.

057 [School]

This is St. Joes, the school I attended from 2nd to 8th grade, and my mom has taught at for 11 or 12 years. It is small and Catholic, complete with older buildings (with personality?) and uniforms. It is a really great school-and I feel that it has helped me grow into who I am today. Though I never liked the idea that I was in a small Catholic school (for high school or grade school) I realized for college that they have the atmosphere that I want to be in.

These are (late) pictures from Bumbershoot. Sadly I didn’t get a change to shoot the bands I really wanted to see-The Decemberists, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, and Bob Dylan, because cameras with detachable lenses weren’t allowed on the main stage for us peons. It gets so old for me sometimes-I want press credentials-I know I could do so much if I was given the chance. Then again-events like this, or visiting places where tourists run rampant, I feel like I am nothing special. Everyone and their mother has a DSLR, and who knows how my pictures even match up. Regardless, I saw the 3 bands above in addition to The Constellations (the picture to the right is Elijah Jones of The Constellations [their hit is "Felicia"] they put on a badass show and did a bitchin’ cover of Bowie’s “Let’s Dance”. My favorite show of the day however, was HANDS DOWN-Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes (Known for their hit “Home”.) Their band is a huge ensemble and basically put other bands to shame (except Dylan, no one puts Dylan to shame.) Their energy was infectious-I couldn’t help but dance and smile and sing along. It was a good day-thanks to Tanner for putting up with my music, and Chaske and Dedra for driving us an enduring Seattle driving.

Babysitting day-it was fun. T-Loe taught them how to say “It’s not a tumor.” I love them so much. Nephews are amazingly fun. It’s too bad Adrian is way better than me at Mario though, because he talks shit.

I finally finally stopped at Dry Falls. I make the trip from Yakima to Coulee Dam and back every couple of weekends and I drive on thinking “I just want to see Tanner” or “I just want to be home.” Well today nothing was stopping me, I was driving like a space cadet and I just said whatever, I’m doing it. It was nice, I wish the sky was less wispy, but I can deal. I snapped the picture of the little boy right before I got into my car…Stealthy. I have a few more stops I need to make on that trip, like the stupid Ephrata road and the Eagle at Soap Lake. Another day, perhaps with a companion and a prettier sky.

Tanner’s house is for sale-we’ve been staging and packing and gallavanting. Then I took pictures of this lovely cottage and we posted them on Craigslist. Buy it.

Did I mention that I hate being behind on my project? It makes it so much harder to write about it.

Sometimes I wonder if the world’s so small, that we will never get away from the sprawl.
I saw this barn a couple weeks ago when Tanner was bringing me to his house from Spokane, I didn’t think about it but as I passed I exclaimed “That is so cool!” and Tanner responded “I knew you’d like it.” Then we continued driving.

After that point, I would dream about that damn barn/shed thing. Somewhere near Airway Heights a photo awaited, and I finally got the opportunity to rephotograph it on Saturday when Tanner and I drove to Spokane again. I begged him to pull over and he is amazing and did it so I could run across the road and snap 5 photos that are easily among my favorites I have ever taken. It was so sweet of him to pull off on a busy road and I am so happy with these pictures-I didn’t have internet for a couple days and it was killing me how badly I wanted to share these.
